Biography of Bishop Dr. James M. Gachengo

Bishop Dr. James M. Gachengo is the General Overseer of Power in Reconciliation Evangelistic Ministry, operating under the banner of PRIME Ministries International (PMI) – “The Family Church.” Since its founding in 2014, PMI has experienced tremendous growth, establishing multiple branches across Kenya. The ministry carries a distinct and powerful mandate:

Reconciling Man to God, Man to Self, and Man to Man.

Family Life

Based in Nyeri, Kenya, Bishop Dr. Gachengo is joyfully married to Rev. Martha N. Mugo, his faithful ministry partner and spiritual companion. Together, they are blessed with four children:

• Joebrian Gachengo Mugo, a sociologist and graduate of Kenyatta University,

• Peterdavis Maina Mugo, a civil engineer from Marwadi University in Gujarat, India,

• Joybernice Wanjiku Mugo and Petradebby Njeri Mugo, their twin daughters currently attending Nyeri Good Shepherd Academy.

Ministry & Media Outreach

As the Lead Minister of PMI, Bishop Dr. Gachengo hosts two live Sunday services, broadcast globally through Facebook and YouTube, where he shares the life-transforming Gospel of Jesus Christ with an international audience.

Educational & Professional Background

Bishop Dr. Gachengo is academically and professionally accomplished, with the following qualifications:

• Certified Mediator – Judiciary of Kenya

• Bachelor’s Degree in Theology – Landmark Baptist Theological Seminary, Texas, USA

• Master’s Degree in Christian Counseling – New Life Bible College and Seminary, USA

• Doctorate in Theology – New Life Bible College and Seminary, USA

In addition to his pastoral work, he is a seasoned clinician specializing in Skin and Chest Medicine, a field in which he continues to practice privately. Before fully entering ministry, he served the Government of Kenya for 21 years as a Senior Civil Servant, resigning in 2014 to pursue his divine calling in full-time ministry.

Global Ministry & Community Engagement

Bishop Dr. Gachengo has carried the Gospel across all continents except Australia, leaving a lasting spiritual and professional impact.

He plays key roles in Christian leadership and community development, including:

• Coordinator of Bishops and Pastors in the Evangelical and Ecumenical Councils of Nyeri County and the Mt. Kenya Region

• Founder and Director of impactful community initiatives:

. Feeding programs for street families and slum residents

• A free learning center serving over 400 children daily, offering education, porridge, and lunch

• Mentorship and sponsorship for students pursuing tertiary education

• Ministerial training and empowerment programs that have equipped thousands of ministers and evangelists

Bishop Dr. Gachengo also serves on the boards of significant educational institutions:

• Board of Trustees Member, Recom College – the training arm of PMI, The Family Church

• Board of Trustees Member, Outspan Global University

Vision for the Future

Guided by faith and compassion, Bishop Dr. Gachengo is passionately trusting God for:

• The establishment of a comprehensive rehabilitation center for individuals affected by drug and alcohol abuse, where they will be mentored and equipped with practical skills for self-reliance

• The construction of a community health facility to provide affordable, compassionate healthcare to the underserved and vulnerable
